The Mirror

Title: Freelance Journalist

Work: Regular news reporting shifts; commissions

Duties: Writing breaking news stories; finding new angles to existing stories; uploading and publishing stories – including headlines, sub-heads and teasers using Escenic CMS; ensuring stories are legal-checked, SEO friendly and accompanied by images, videos and infographics.

Output: mirror.co.uk; Daily and Sunday Mirror newspapers

Writing samples: Covered everything from health and politics to travel and showbiz. Stories I’ve covered range a summary of the world’s best infinity pools, and a bomb scare at an Apple factory, to an inspiring tale of a woman who showed her face in public for the first time in years after falling victim to an acid attack, and one story about migrants who were rescued from the Channel after trying to cross the sea to Britain in a rubber dinghy.

I’ve also worked with the health editor of the newspaper (a separate entity to the website), and contributed to a number of popular stories, including one article about the NHS’s staggering clinical negligence bill.
